What is DSIP?

DSIP takes its name from delta-sleep-inducing peptide. Human research includes small, short studies in participants with chronic insomnia that measured sleep architecture, perceived sleep quality and daytime performance. A 1987 placebo-controlled study of 14 participants reported improvements in sleep and daytime measures. A separate 1992 double-blind study of 16 participants found some changes in objective sleep measures, but the effects were weak and subjective sleep quality did not improve. The later authors concluded that short-term treatment was unlikely to offer major therapeutic benefit. These studies do not establish a reliable insomnia treatment.
