UNDERSTAND THE COMPOUND

What is GHK-Cu?

GHK consists of three amino acids and can bind copper(II) ions to form GHK-Cu. Research has examined how this complex affects fibroblasts, the cells that produce connective-tissue components. A foundational culture study reported increased collagen synthesis without an increase in cell number. A later investigation compared GHK-Cu, hyaluronic acid and their combinations in fibroblasts and skin explants. Some combinations increased collagen IV measures more than either component alone. These experiments describe cellular and isolated-tissue responses; they did not measure wrinkle reduction or wound recovery in treated people.

  • Collagen synthesis in fibroblasts
  • Collagen IV in skin explants

GHK-Cu, hyaluronic acid and collagen IV (2023)

Certain GHK-Cu–hyaluronic acid combinations increased collagen IV measures in fibroblasts and skin explants. The findings concern experimental mixtures and do not establish cosmetic effectiveness in people.
